Life & Jigsaw Puzzles
I just noticed that it's almost a year since I last updated this poor, poor, abandoned blog of mine. I bet if it's a huge mansion, it would've been covered with overgrown thorns, vile insects that will not miss any opportunity to sink their mandibles into juicy, juicy you, snakes that won't hesitate to use their fangs, spiders that made the place their permanent residency area, marking their territories with webs, and most importantly (and out of place) some supernatural force residing in there. It would've been THE Haunted Mansion where kids dare each other to "stay the night" or "retrieve the ball".
Ok. Before I stray too far from what I intend to post. I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and, when I look at life, I find it more and more like a solid colored jigsaw puzzle with its pieces scattered all over the table. All the pieces are of one solid color. The whole jigsaw puzzle is of one color and it is so well made that only one piece of the puzzle fits in its own location (hey, what is a jigsaw puzzle if you can put whatever pieces and it fits?). You do not know if you have all the pieces, nor do you know the total number of pieces (if you so stupidly intend to count).
And you've to work the puzzle out. Everyday, we painstakingly try to fit the pieces in its right location. You may have all the pieces, but you won't know which piece goes where. As we go on in life, we'll get clues and notions of where to put these pieces. One wrong placement and you've screwed it. You have to take out a huge portion of the jigsaw and refit the pieces cause they get stuck together. And we repeat this cruel cycle everyday. And as we get older, we will have a better idea on what pieces go where. We will be more efficient in solving this puzzle and putting the right pieces where they belong and making the right choices in life.
The cruel cycle? That's not the worst part. What's worse is that other people get to see you doing the puzzle. Exposure. Wrong move - Public humiliation. You become the laughing stock. Cause humans, in general, become happy at the expense of other people's unhappiness. Think of it as the Law of Conservation of Happiness. When someone is happy, another must be unhappy. And we dwell in the failures of others. No that's not the worst yet.
The worst part? These people can not only look, but toy around with you puzzle. They can steal and hide your puzzle. They will confuse you with their advice. And there are those who even attempt to fit it in for you (with good intentions of course). And there will be times when there's a special someone (and you willingly allowing it) totally crushing your jigsaw puzzle, leaving you with scattered pieces all over. You end up at zero.
But it's not all bad times. There will be people helping you. Parents will teach their children which piece fits where. Friends might tip you off in the right direction. But, still, try to solve a solid colored jigsaw. You'll end up pulling your hair.
My pieces are slowly being removed from their rightful places by someone. I do nothing to stop it. In fact, I may have to redefine the whole puzzle, so that person might actually be doing me a favor.
Heh.
My jigsaw's white/blue/black. What color's yours?
