Life... A small view of another nobody on it
It's raining again. I sit here, in front of my monitor, listening to the sounds of the droplets of water as they splash onto the roof of my house. It's so serene. Occasionally, this peaceful situation is broken with the sounds of cars passing by (hey, I live beside a main road, whadaya expect!) It's times like this that draws me deep into thought.
It's been eleven days since my holidays began. Of these eleven days, my routine was almost the same. Wake up, brush my teeth, bathe, eat, play, bathe, eat, watch TV, sleep. This routine was broken for 3 days, last thurs, fri & sat. But after that, I've reverted back to the usual routine. This makes me wonder: What really is the purpose of life? To grow up, work, leave offsprings and well, that's it. Nobody can really answer this, but I'll try to explain life's purpose, from my POV.
Alright. It would be vague to find the purpose of life if we do not know what life is. Well, you might say, life is life. We breathe, we eat, we move around, our heart pumps - we are living a life. If you say so, yes, you are correct. But, this is just a part of life - the physical part. Now, life, to me, is a journey to learn.
A process of learning. The purpose of life is to let us learn, mostly through experience. Imagine life as a journey, and the path that everyone take in this journey is different. The paths may take you up moutains, down valleys, over strong flowing river, fighting through thick bushes and maybe through huge stormy oceans. At times, your life might be bland, like travelling on a calm lake, tortting on a pony across a vast plain field, or happy, like going through a road with your favourite view on both your left and right flank. And when you walk these paths, whatever you experience, you'll learn from it. "Experience is the best teacher." Well, we learn mostly from bad experiences. The troubles we face in life may be blessings in disguise. How? Think about it. :)
You might say,"Yes, so we are learning. What is the ultimate purpose of this lesson?" Well. Let's see. Take a not so further look into the destination of the journey of life. The destination of everyone's journey is death. Yes. It may sound pessimistic and cruel - but yes: This is life. Okay. Now, look further, after death. Many of us hold different believes about what happens after death. I would not discuss all of them. Instead, I'll tell you about my belief. I believe that death is the end of journey of life, but also the beginning of another journey. What journey, I'm not sure. But, I believe, that through life, we learn the skills needed for this next journey. The journey is not neccesarily rebirth, but I don't deny the possibility.
Although I say this, I still fear death. Because I'm still not sure what lies behind this veil. Being a cautious person, I tend to fear the unknown. Haha~ I'm a weird person, I know. Hey, but then, who isn't? The weird means being out of place, being different from others. And, please tell me, are you the same as ... let's say, your best friend?
