Blog Moved...

Yes. I've decided to ditch this blog. Let's just say blogspot is a tingy bit confusing to toy around with. I like complicated people & stuff, but I don't feel like spending half a day to try to customize blogspot. Yes, I'm lazy. So sue me. :P

Anywayz, after deciding amongst so many hosts, I've handpicked two spots - livejournal.com & tabulas.com (just coz they have the funky "Currently listening to... Currently feeling... etc." tags). I'm a sucker for that function. Livejournal also looks complicated, & my posts become quite public there - I like privacy to a certain degree.

So, I've settled for tabulas, which I give 3.5/5 stars (an all time high on my charting).

With that said (I know I speak a lot), here is the link to my new blog:

http://www.tabulas.com/~scsw

PS: Remember to link it. ^^ Ciaoz.

The following is intended for my blog only...

Dear blog,

This may be my last post here Sorry I have to leave you. I'm sorry you have to be a victim of circumstances, but we're just not meant to be. Sniff. Maybe if we met some other time at some other place, things might have worked out. You're just far too complicated for a lowlife like me. Bye.

Me: Enough of this "sentimental" bullcrap!
Me: Sorry I got carried away.
Me: You always do, you idiot.
Me: ... Aren't you essentially coining urself an idiot as well?
Me: ...
*awkward moment of silence*
Me: ... Whatever. You still talk a lot.
Me: I talk a lot? Look at who started this conversation!
Me: Well, I wouldn't have if YOU did NOT post so much bullcrap!
Me: Well, I wouldn't have said so much more pointless things if you did not start this conversation!
Me: Well, then stop already!
Me: I'll stop if you let me to.
Me: If I let you to?! So, we're playing the pointing game now?
Me: NO! If you don't understand, then can you just shut up already?
Me: First you accuse me of talking too much crap when you're the one & now you're acting like the hero & telling me to shut up?!
Me: *sighs*
Me: Don't give me that, mister! You...
Me: What the...?! Will both of you stop it?
Me: He started it!
Me: No, he started it!
Me: Uhm... If you'd kindly put aside your differences and look around...
*Me, me & me sees you*
*Me & me manages a sheepish grin*
*Faces turn red*
Me, me & me: Please excuse us. *scrams*

Well, look, quite a long last post. :P

Life & Jigsaw Puzzles

I just noticed that it's almost a year since I last updated this poor, poor, abandoned blog of mine. I bet if it's a huge mansion, it would've been covered with overgrown thorns, vile insects that will not miss any opportunity to sink their mandibles into juicy, juicy you, snakes that won't hesitate to use their fangs, spiders that made the place their permanent residency area, marking their territories with webs, and most importantly (and out of place) some supernatural force residing in there. It would've been THE Haunted Mansion where kids dare each other to "stay the night" or "retrieve the ball".

Ok. Before I stray too far from what I intend to post. I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and, when I look at life, I find it more and more like a solid colored jigsaw puzzle with its pieces scattered all over the table. All the pieces are of one solid color. The whole jigsaw puzzle is of one color and it is so well made that only one piece of the puzzle fits in its own location (hey, what is a jigsaw puzzle if you can put whatever pieces and it fits?). You do not know if you have all the pieces, nor do you know the total number of pieces (if you so stupidly intend to count).

And you've to work the puzzle out. Everyday, we painstakingly try to fit the pieces in its right location. You may have all the pieces, but you won't know which piece goes where. As we go on in life, we'll get clues and notions of where to put these pieces. One wrong placement and you've screwed it. You have to take out a huge portion of the jigsaw and refit the pieces cause they get stuck together. And we repeat this cruel cycle everyday. And as we get older, we will have a better idea on what pieces go where. We will be more efficient in solving this puzzle and putting the right pieces where they belong and making the right choices in life.

The cruel cycle? That's not the worst part. What's worse is that other people get to see you doing the puzzle. Exposure. Wrong move - Public humiliation. You become the laughing stock. Cause humans, in general, become happy at the expense of other people's unhappiness. Think of it as the Law of Conservation of Happiness. When someone is happy, another must be unhappy. And we dwell in the failures of others. No that's not the worst yet.

The worst part? These people can not only look, but toy around with you puzzle. They can steal and hide your puzzle. They will confuse you with their advice. And there are those who even attempt to fit it in for you (with good intentions of course). And there will be times when there's a special someone (and you willingly allowing it) totally crushing your jigsaw puzzle, leaving you with scattered pieces all over. You end up at zero.

But it's not all bad times. There will be people helping you. Parents will teach their children which piece fits where. Friends might tip you off in the right direction. But, still, try to solve a solid colored jigsaw. You'll end up pulling your hair.

My pieces are slowly being removed from their rightful places by someone. I do nothing to stop it. In fact, I may have to redefine the whole puzzle, so that person might actually be doing me a favor.

Heh.

My jigsaw's white/blue/black. What color's yours?

Friendship and Trust

Friendship is built on trust. When the trust breaks, so does the hull of the ship. Slowly, it sinks and soon, what is left of the ship is just a faint memory.

Trust, without the lies and deceit surrounding it, may not be valuable. Trust prevails when there are lies and deceit. It's like a ray of light to people trapped in the darkness of lies, shining brightly in the dark sky, guiding them.

Nothing is good without something bad, something of its extreme opposite. Will people treasure Health without Diseases or other Health complications? Will people treasure Love without Abuse? Will people treasure Liberty without Slavery? Will people treasure Life without Death? Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know the answer. Perhaps, someday I may find out, or may not.

Equality, think about it

Here are a few quotations that i wish to share with all of you out there... Think about it... I'll post my views on them next time i blog... i'm feeling a bit sleepy now, coz i'm currently on some flu pills. don't worry. it's not avian influenza virus. :)

Equality...is the result of human organization. We are not born equal.
Hannah Arendt, US (German-born) historian & social philosopher (1906 - 1975)

In the state of nature...all men are born equal, but they cannot continue in this equality. Society makes them lose it, and they recover it only by the protection of the law.
Charles de Montesquieu, French lawyer & philosopher (1689 - 1755)
The love of democracy is that of equality.
Charles de Montesquieu, French lawyer & philosopher (1689 - 1755)
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
George Orwell, Animal Farm
As men, we are all equal in the presence of death.
Publilius Syrus (~100 BC), Moral Sayings, First Century BC
I got these quotations from here: http://www.quotationspage.com/subjects/equality/
Hey. That's all I guess. Well... now i scoot off to bed~ Add comments of your views on this quotation ya?! Sleep, here I come.

Life... A small view of another nobody on it

It's raining again. I sit here, in front of my monitor, listening to the sounds of the droplets of water as they splash onto the roof of my house. It's so serene. Occasionally, this peaceful situation is broken with the sounds of cars passing by (hey, I live beside a main road, whadaya expect!) It's times like this that draws me deep into thought.

It's been eleven days since my holidays began. Of these eleven days, my routine was almost the same. Wake up, brush my teeth, bathe, eat, play, bathe, eat, watch TV, sleep. This routine was broken for 3 days, last thurs, fri & sat. But after that, I've reverted back to the usual routine. This makes me wonder: What really is the purpose of life? To grow up, work, leave offsprings and well, that's it. Nobody can really answer this, but I'll try to explain life's purpose, from my POV.

Alright. It would be vague to find the purpose of life if we do not know what life is. Well, you might say, life is life. We breathe, we eat, we move around, our heart pumps - we are living a life. If you say so, yes, you are correct. But, this is just a part of life - the physical part. Now, life, to me, is a journey to learn.

A process of learning. The purpose of life is to let us learn, mostly through experience. Imagine life as a journey, and the path that everyone take in this journey is different. The paths may take you up moutains, down valleys, over strong flowing river, fighting through thick bushes and maybe through huge stormy oceans. At times, your life might be bland, like travelling on a calm lake, tortting on a pony across a vast plain field, or happy, like going through a road with your favourite view on both your left and right flank. And when you walk these paths, whatever you experience, you'll learn from it. "Experience is the best teacher." Well, we learn mostly from bad experiences. The troubles we face in life may be blessings in disguise. How? Think about it. :)

You might say,"Yes, so we are learning. What is the ultimate purpose of this lesson?" Well. Let's see. Take a not so further look into the destination of the journey of life. The destination of everyone's journey is death. Yes. It may sound pessimistic and cruel - but yes: This is life. Okay. Now, look further, after death. Many of us hold different believes about what happens after death. I would not discuss all of them. Instead, I'll tell you about my belief. I believe that death is the end of journey of life, but also the beginning of another journey. What journey, I'm not sure. But, I believe, that through life, we learn the skills needed for this next journey. The journey is not neccesarily rebirth, but I don't deny the possibility.

Although I say this, I still fear death. Because I'm still not sure what lies behind this veil. Being a cautious person, I tend to fear the unknown. Haha~ I'm a weird person, I know. Hey, but then, who isn't? The weird means being out of place, being different from others. And, please tell me, are you the same as ... let's say, your best friend?

Time

PS: This is my opinion ... a few weeks ago. Thought I might share it with all of you out there.
Real Date: 24/9/04

It’s 8:51 p.m. About an hour ago, I was waiting for a commuter train. When I looked around me, everyone looked so tired. They got impulsive when a train did not make it to the station. The next train will be arriving in another 15 minutes time. The faces of some turned really black. When the train was there, they rushed in, not even waiting for the passengers to come out before putting their smelly feet into the train.

This is just a mild example of humans waging a war against time. Humans have always wanted to gain time, especially for those in the city. It’s ironic isn’t it? In the city, so many gadgets are designed for human convenience – for them to save time. We have coffee maker, so that every morning we make up, press a button, go into shower, come out, have a cup of coffee and head to work. We have cars, trains, LRTs to make our journey faster. But, why when we compare humans living in the city and humans living in areas untouched by these things, humans in cities who have so many thingamabobs to save time seem to be rushing for time? Does that mean the gadgets we invented are actually slowing us down?

No. It’s not the gadgets. It’s our minds. We have always wanted time. We want more time for this. We want more time for that. Soon, we come up with all sorts of time saving inventions, but every time a brilliant mind comes up with something like this, our thirst for extra time grows. I can say that, we humans have always been racing against time, and we have always been losing. We can never win over time. Some of us think that time travel is possible, I do not deny the fact that it might be possible, but if time travel were possible, that means everything that’s happening now is like the rolls of film for a movie. It’s written there, it’s still there. Every minute can be replayed; every second would happen again, every millisecond would be a frame of the whole movie.

Then again, why would we want to conquer time? Two reasons; and both are inter-related. Alright. First, every living being on Earth has a limited life span. A human’s average life span is 80 years old. We want to live our lives to the fullest. We want to use every second of that limited time to the maximum. We would not want to waste time traveling or waiting. Secondly, notice that I’ve been using the word want? Yes. We have insatiable wants. Every time something new is invented to fuel our burning desire, our appetite grows. We are greedy creatures. Notice how much land have we wrestled from the various life on Earth? Notice how much natural resources we’ve exhausted? And we still want more of these. Now, we’re reaching up into the skies – to other planets to gain them. We want a fresh new environment to live in. We want more resources. We want more land. Greed is human nature in general. Want an example?

Okay. Let’s say now we have 2 cars. They are essentially the same. They are perfectly same. Now, we look for 2 men, A and B. We give each of them one car. A, after receiving the car, would “see” that B has the better car and might go for B’s car. And vice versa. Isn’t this the most normal scenario that happens to us? “The grass is always greener on the other side.” So true. We might need to give whoever invented this phrase a credit.

You might want to argue that greed is not human nature? Well… I agree. Maybe it’s the nature of living things. You might argue that, not everyone is looking for more money. Not everyone wants to own more property. That is true. But first, let’s define greed. What do you think greed is? It is desire; desire for more of anything. Ask yourself. Have you not wanted more of anything? Have you not wished you had that special something? Someone perhaps? Love maybe? Or for yourself to be a different person? A nice meal, then a better one? A cozier bed? Somewhere better to sleep in? I know some of these sounds like a simple request – but they’re still wants. They’re still the desire to have more of something, even though it’s mild. Let’s not look at humans. Let’s journey through the living beings in general. Animals have always wanted territory, mates, to leave their genes, to have more offspring. What do you think now?

Well… It’s 9:26 now. I admit. I myself am a quite greedy person. I am a person, who is also waging a losing war against time. I know someday, I might succumb to greed and become another mindless man chasing after zealous desires. But, as for now, I will want to spend my time thinking about what good things await me the coming day. I have to go bathe and I’ll take my time and enjoy it. Cheers. It is now 9:30 p.m. Goodnight.
